UK Green Methanol

Project Overview

Released Energy is developing a commercial-scale green methanol production facility in the United Kingdom, supporting the global transition to clean fuels. Powered by RealCarbon Tech’s advanced technology, the project will produce 240,000 tonnes per annum of zero-emission methanol using renewable energy and captured carbon.

This facility will play a critical role in decarbonising the transport industry while supporting innovation, job creation, and investment in the UK’s growing green economy.

With a target operational date of 2028, the project will be a cornerstone of Released Energy’s clean fuels platform and a demonstration of RealCarbon Tech’s cutting-edge carbon utilisation process.

Key benefits include:

    • 240,000 tpa of green methanol – helping industries shift away from fossil fuels
    • Low-emissions production using renewable energy and captured carbon
    • Clean fuel supply chain for domestic use and international export
    • Local jobs and skills development in clean tech and manufacturing
    • Collaboration with UK partners to strengthen national innovation ecosystems
